Our partner farmer cooperatives - Flor de Pancasán and Flor de Dalia - are still rebuilding after two hurricanes raged though the Matagalpa coffee growing region two years ago. This has been compounded with hardships brought on by a decline in sales sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as recent and ongoing social and economic instability in Nicaragua.
Cafe Etico is a part of that decline in sales - we were not able to purchase beans from the latest crop.
Eager to replace the income the farmers’ would have received, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign in hopes to garner donations from our supporters.
In total Cafe Etico would like to raise $5,000. These funds will help farmers with food and farming supplies to carry their families through to the next harvest.
These partnerships are very important to us, we will continue to seek opportunities to support the farmers during difficult times by coming together in solidarity and supporting them as a community.
